Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hany Swailem, held a meeting with Mark Davis, the Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to explore ways to strengthen collaboration in the water sector.
Discussions focused on ongoing and upcoming projects, including the rehabilitation of the Kitchener Drain, the Rashid Wall renovation, the National Drainage Programme IV (NDP4), and upgrades to pumping stations at Wadi El-Noqra, Aswan.
The meeting also explored proposals to utilise solar energy to power irrigation pumps, replacing diesel, as part of sustainable water resource management initiatives.
