Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has signed on Sunday a cooperation protocol with the Commercial International Bank (CIB) Foundation to upgrade Mabarret Misr El-Qadima Hospital, with a special focus on enhancing paediatric cardiology services.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar underscored the vital role of public-private partnerships in strengthening the healthcare sector and expanding access to high-quality medical services for children and citizens.
According to a ministry statement, the agreement aligns with Egypt’s broader efforts to modernise medical infrastructure and improve service quality. The initiative includes upgrading hospital facilities, improving operational efficiency, and training medical staff to meet international healthcare standards.
A key focus of the protocol is paediatric cardiology, aiming to provide advanced treatments for children with congenital heart diseases through cutting-edge catheterisation techniques. The project will supply 150 essential medical devices for catheter-based treatments and conduct ultrasound screenings to detect heart conditions early in approximately 2,000 children annually. Over the course of the initiative, an estimated 2,150 children will receive critical examinations and procedures.
Additionally, the agreement aims to transform Mabarret Misr El-Qadima Hospital into a specialised centre for diagnosing and treating paediatric heart diseases while raising awareness among families about the importance of early screening.
