Egypt expresses concern for Israel’s plans
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed profound concern, on Saturday, over Israel’s plans to smash Palestinian villages in the Masafer, Yatta area of the occupied West Bank, and the resulting risk of eviction thousands of Palestinians.
“Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed its rejection of reported Israeli plans to build about 4,000 new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.” in a press statement on Saturday.
The Ministry warned that these two steps are blatant violation to the rules of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy.
“Egypt utterly condemns the settlement policy in the Palestinian territories, either though building new settlements or expanding existing ones, confiscating land and displacing Palestinians.” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said.
He added that these unilateral measures only increase tension and upsurge in violence, and at the same time as weaken the chances of reaching a solution and establish lasting peace in the region.
