Egypt integrates climate action into economic initiatives

Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk emphasised the government commitment to integrating climate considerations into its economic initiatives.

During his participation in the Banks and Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, he stated that the government is actively working to incorporate the climate dimension into efforts to stimulate economic activity across various sectors, including industry and tourism.

A key focus, according to Kouchouk, is enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports in the global market.  He called on the private sector to contribute innovative ideas for incorporating sustainability issues into the new export support programme.

The government aims to support both local and foreign businesses in expanding financing for green projects and achieving sustainable growth. Kouchouk highlighted upcoming initiatives to promote shift of cars and buses to natural gas and electricity.
