Egypt launches campaign to enhance eco-tourism before COP27

Egypt’s Environment and Tourism ministries have announced on Thursday the launch the Eco-Egypt campaign to reconnect adventurous travelers with Egypt’s countless ecological sites, according an official statement. This national campaign to raise awareness of climate change impacts under the slogan Back to nature, ahead COP27.

Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and Minister of Tourism Ahmed Issa tackled the latest preparations of hotel and tourist facilities in Sharm El-Sheikh to receive COP27 guests.

In addition to that, they launch various initiatives to maintain the environment and promote eco-tourism, the statement mentioned.

Eco-Egypt campaign includes a green list of eco-labeled hotels, ecolodges, Green Fins-certified diving centres, and eco-friendly products.

Egypt has succeeded to obtain the ninth place globally in accreditation of diving centers for the green mark, in a short period of less than two years. Moreover, Fouad starting a license to establish eco-lodge.

The statement pointed out that 40 diving centres in Sharm El Sheikh have obtained the Green Fins certificate and 132 hotel facilities have obtained certificates stating the application of green practices.

It is scheduled that all diving centres and hotel facilities in Sharm El Sheikh will obtain certificates stating that they have applied green practices by the end September.
