Egypt launches largest humanitarian aid convoy for Gaza
Egypt launched the largest-ever aid convoy of humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, said Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.
The aid convoy consists of approximately 2,510 tons, carried by 190 trucks, the Madbouly added. It also includes medical convoys and 1,613 tons of dry food, mineral water, clothes, blankets, generators, and flashlights.
The shipment comes upon directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to stand in solidarity with Palestinian people, Madbouly said in a cabinet statement.
Madbouly stressed Egypt’s continued efforts, alongside regional and international parties, to ease the situation in Gaza.
Egypt is always working on providing various forms of support to Palestinians struggling in Gaza, said Madbouly. Egypt will continue providing aid to Gaza as well as receiving wounded Palestinians in Egyptian hospitals, he added.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has killed more than 12,000 innocent civilians and injured more than 30,000.
