Egypt launches new online repatriation service for Egyptians to return from Gaza

Egypt launched a new online repatriation service, a Google form for Egyptians who wish to return to Egypt from Gaza on December 9.

The form requires accurate personal information, including passport, national ID card, birth certificate, marriage contract, and other pertinent documents to be completed, and to hasten the process of The Egyptians’ return from Gaza.

Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Egyptians in Gaza can now apply for repatriation to Egypt easily and more effectively via the new online service.

He also added that the names of successful applicants would be announced to both the Egyptian and Palestinian authorities after getting approval.

The Egyptian ministry official insisted that citizens must only apply for repatriation through the official government service, and cautioned against the use of other illegal methods.

“The Egyptian authorities are committed to ensuring the safe exit of Egyptian citizens and their families from the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the ongoing violent military operations in the region,” Abu Zeid concluded.

The number of Egyptian community in Gaza is estimated at around 40,000 people, according to local media outlets.
