Egypt, Russia discuss expanding food security, agricultural trade cooperation

Egypt and Russia held talks on strengthening cooperation in food security during a video conference on Wednesday between Egypt’s Supply Minister Sherif Farouk, Bahaa El-Ghannam, executive director of the Future of Egypt Authority, and Russian Agriculture Minister Oxana Lut.

The discussions focused on boosting cooperation in imports of wheat, grains, and vegetable oils to support Egypt’s strategic food security needs, alongside broader collaboration in logistics, fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides.

Both sides also underscored the importance of expanding trade and investment flows to support market stability and ensure the continuous availability of key commodities amid ongoing global supply chain pressures.
