Egypt Shares Gain EGP3.5bn, Main Index Hits 6980 at Midday

Egyptian stocks attained gains worth EGP 3.5 billion during the midday session of Thursday powered by Arab buying appetite. The main index hit 6980 points Thursday noon.

The Benchmark EGX30 climbed by 1.35% to 6980.56 p; while EGX20 also surged by 1.66 % to 8165.31 p.

Additionally, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 rose by 0.58% to 557.33 p.  Price index EGX100 hiked by 0.81% to 947.31 p.

The capital market has opened Thursday sessions at EGP 435.799 billion, according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad English at 12:53 p.m. Cairo time (10:53 GMT).

Trading Volumes & Values

The trading volume has recorded 160.490 million securities worth EGP 431.596 million, exchanged through 19.567 transactions during Thursday midday.

Also during the midday session, 162 listed securities have been traded in; 32 fell, 100 advanced; while 30 keeping their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arabs were net buyers acquiring 5.09% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 23.004 million, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Egyptians and the non-Arab foreigners were net sellers seizing 89.51% and 5.4% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 21.101 million and 1.903 million respectively, excluding the deals.
