Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has instructed fixed internet service providers to double the data allowance of the basic 150 Egyptian pound package to 100 GB from 50 GB, with no price increase, effective November 1, 2026.
The decision follows recommendations from Egypt Forum 2026 announced by the prime minister and aligns with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s directives to expand access to telecommunications services, facilitate the use of digital government services and support digital transformation.
The NTRA introduced the 50 GB fixed internet package for EGP 150 in May, positioning it as the market’s lowest-priced option for users with low consumption, as part of efforts to promote digital inclusion and expand internet access.
The authority said it would continue monitoring service providers’ implementation of the initiative to ensure the expanded package reaches beneficiaries while maintaining high standards of service quality and efficiency.
