Egyptian Exchange Pares Its Early Losses, OTH 1.01% Down; Midday

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) had on Sunday’s midday posted losses of EGP 260 million as the capital market has reached EGP 325.799 billion as of 10:58 GMT (12:58 local time).

The main index, EGX30 inched higher 0.09% hitting 4493.52 p.  EGX20 shed 0.21% reaching 5079.16 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 went down 0.28% hitting 398.68 p. Price index EGX100 climbed 0.03% reaching 699.23 p.

Traded volume reached 13.738 million securities worth EGP 32.166 million, exchanged through 3.226 thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 116 listed securities; 35 declined and 61 advanced while 20 keeping their previous levels.

Egyptians and Arabs were net buyers seizing 99.21% and 0.18% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 838.016 thousand and EGP 816.364 thousand excluding the deals.

On the other hand, non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 0.62% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 1.654 million excluding the deals.

EGX’s leading shares witnessed collective downwards except for the shares owned by Commercial International Bank- Egypt (COMI.CA) which climbed 0.45% to hit EGP 24.40.

Leading EGX’s midday downwards, Shares of Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) sank 1.01% to reach EGP 2.93. Shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) went down 0.81% to hit EGP 1.22. Shares owned by EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) sagged 0.66% to reach EGP 10.56.

Additionally, the shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) (OCIC.CA) edged down 0.42% to reach EGP 248.02.
