Egyptian shares closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark EGX30 index edging down 0.09 per cent as small- and mid-cap stocks gained.
The EGX30, which tracks the country’s largest and most actively traded companies, ended at 56,627.83 points. The EGX33 Shariah index rose 0.58 per cent to 6,761.92, while the EGX35-LV fell 0.07 per cent to 7,108.86.
The EGX70 index of small- and mid-cap stocks rose 0.23 per cent to 21,668.71 points, while the broader EGX100 index gained 0.28 per cent to 28,292.64.
Market capitalisation stood at 4.450 trillion Egyptian pounds.
Arab investors were net buyers, with purchases exceeding sales by 4.969 billion pounds.
Egyptian and non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers, recording net sales of 4.966 billion pounds and 2.725 million pounds, respectively.
