Egypt’s 3 Mobile Operators Halt Their Ads Campaigns Due To Republican Guard Clashes

The Three Mobile Phone operators have decided to halt their advertising campaigns and dedicated offerings to Ramadan affected by the clashes of republican Guard , which preceded several hours of Ramadan.

Eng. Ashraf Halim, Vice President Commercial at Mobinil, said the halting of advertising campaigns comes as a mourning for the souls of deceased in the events of republican Guard clashes, pointing out that the advertising include two contents ‘ironic and comic’ in order to go with the general situation of Egypt which dominated by grief affecting by falling a number of victims.

Halim added that it is scheduled for the advertising to start from tomorrow Sunday as they will provide specific advertising, new offerings ,discounts on services, stressing that the decision of halting the advertising comes from every company and informed by National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority NTRA.

Mr. Khaled Hegazy, External Affairs Director for Vodafone Egypt,has explained that the halting of advertisement campaigns is because of the difficulty of security situation and the weakness of political stability in the local market, stressing that it will start from tomorrow broadcasting its advertising.

Hegazy has pointed out that the three operators did not hold any agreements concerning the halting of advertisements as this is against customer protection Act which asserts the necessary for not holding any agreements between competitors.

It is worth mentioning that there was violent incidents around the republican guard and many people have been injured and died.
