Egyptian bourse starts week with $106mn gains

Egyptian stocks started the week with gains estimated at 828 million Egyptian pounds (US$ 105.7million) on Arab buying appetite.

The market capitalisation reached 423.944 billion pounds during the closing session of Sunday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 hiked by 0.59 percent to 6607.53 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI boosted by 0.64 percent to 1133.89 points.

EGX20 went higher by 0.35 percent to 6474.34 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 climbed by 1.06 percent to 359.99 points. The price index, EGX100 increased by 0.45 percent to 773.34 points.

Turnovers low

On Sunday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 249.577 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 336.734 million, exchanged through 13,930 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 163 listed securities have been traded in; 36 declined, 71 advanced; while 52 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Egyptian and foreign investors were net sellers on Sunday capturing 85.57% and 9.02% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 5.790 million and EGP 9.773 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Arab investors were net buyers getting 5.41% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 15.563 million, excluding the deals.
