Egypt’s EEHC, e& Egypt sign protocol to deploy smart meters nationwide

Egypt’s Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) and e& Egypt signed a cooperation protocol on Monday to deploy advanced smart meters at the telecom operator’s sites nationwide. The project aims to improve metering efficiency and enhance the accuracy of consumption calculations.

Under the protocol, the new meters will be linked to EEHC’s central systems, including the Meter Data Management (MDM) system and the Unified Head End System (HES), to improve the accuracy and reliability of data collection.

The integrated system will enable advanced analysis of consumption patterns, fault detection, and improved operational efficiency.

The protocol also provides for the issuance of consolidated electricity bills covering all e& Egypt sites nationwide, aiming to simplify procedures and improve financial and operational oversight.

Meter reading, billing, and collection processes will be managed through centralised systems, while EEHC will provide continuous technical support.
