Egypt’s food exports hit 285,000 tons in two weeks, led by citrus shipments – NFSA
Egypt exported 285,000 tons of food products through 6,620 consignments over two weeks, from 23 May to 5 June, the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) said on Sunday.
The shipments were carried out by 1,610 exporting companies, and covered about 810 food product categories, including fruits, vegetables, grain products, processed foods, and other food commodities, according to the authority.
Fruit exports totalled 100,000 tons across 37 varieties, with citrus accounting for the largest share at 45,000 tons. Grapes followed at around 30,000 tons, while strawberries reached 18,000 tons.
Vegetable exports amounted to 53,000 tons across 45 varieties. Onions ranked first at 13,000 tons, while potatoes and sweet potatoes each recorded 8,000 tons.
The Netherlands was the largest importer of Egyptian food exports during the period, followed by Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Spain, and the United States.
Egyptian food exports reached 210 international markets over the reporting period, reflecting sustained global demand across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America.
