Egypt’s PM Kandil To Review EGX Chairman’s Resignation Next Week

Reliable sources have informed Amwal Al Ghad that Egypt’s Prime Minister Hesham Kandil will be meeting with Dr. Mohamed Omran, the Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), so as to review the latter’s resignation. Orman is supposed to submit his resignation by the end of this week.

Dr. Mohamed Omran, Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), had announced April 12th that he awaits the formation of the new cabinet so as to submit his resignation and return to his academic career in Cairo University.

During a press conference held on the EGX’s opening new headquarters in Smart Village last April 12th, Dr. Mohamed Omran announced his decision to resign from his office to go back to his work as professor of finance at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, once the new head of state holds his office.

“I think it is the right and wise decision to quit after doing my job as the EGX chairman during one of the hardest times in Egypt’s history.” Omran added

Omran’s term in office as the EGX chairman is supposed to be till July 30th, 2013.

Omran had also added that he demands that the coming EGX chairman shall come via elections.

Worth mentioning, Egyptian former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf named September 2011 Mohamed Abdel Gawad Omran as EGX new chairman, succeeding Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam.
