Egypt’s Sisi to participate in G7 Summit in France

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will participate in the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, scheduled to take place under France’s presidency from June 15 to 17 in the French city of Evian. The Egyptian Presidency announced on Sunday.

Sisi’s participation marks Egypt’s second attendance at a G7 Summit. Egypt first participated in the summit held in Biarritz, France, in August 2019 while holding the presidency of the African Union.

The Presidency said Sisi is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several participating leaders on the sidelines of the summit, including US President Donald Trump.

The summit will bring together G7 leaders, invited partner countries including Egypt, the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, and the heads of several international and regional organisations.

Discussions will focus on global economic growth, geopolitical crises, and their impact on trade, energy, and supply chains, progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, and international cooperation in digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
