Eng. Hesham Alayli CEO of National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) asserted that the committee which formed by NTRA are continuing regularly with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in order to identify the necessary recommendations to implement transitioning into digital broadcasting.

Alayli has informed Amwal Al Ghad in an exclusive that the committee held meetings with a number of interior parties including Egyptian Radio and TV Union (ERTU) so as to set overall imagination for the digital broadcasting.

He added that the initial plan cost of transitioning into digital broadcasting is ranging between EGP2-3 billion.

He stressed that the transitioning will be within 18 months to be fully transitioned in June 2015, stressing that the new frequencies will contribute in increasing mobile phone and internet services.

He denied what was circulated regarding the availability of new frequencies will provide EGP25 billion (US$3.5 billion), noting that the revenues will not achieve the mentioned amount.
