Euro area construction production stable in July 2024

Production in the euro area construction sector remained stable in July 2024 compared to June, while increasing slightly by 0.2 per cent in the European Union (EU).

In June 2024, construction output had grown by 0.6 per cent in the euro area and 0.3 per cent in the EU.

On an annual basis, construction production in July 2024 decreased by 2.2 per cent in the euro area and 2.4 per cent in the EU.

The euro area saw a 3.5 per cent drop in building construction, a 0.2 per cent rise in civil engineering, and a 2.8 per cent decline in specialised construction activities.

In the EU, building construction fell by 4.6 per cent, civil engineering decreased by 0.4 per cent, and specialised construction activities dropped by 2.5 per cent.

Belgium recorded the highest monthly gain with 7.7 per cent, while France saw the largest decline of 2.2 per cent.

Annually, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Sweden experienced the sharpest drops, while Bulgaria, Spain, and Czechia posted the highest increases.
