Fire Erupts In Egypt’s Government Watchdog Building

A fire erupted at the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) headquarters in Cairo Monday afternoon at around 5:20pm. The fire reportedly broke out in the tenth floor of the building.

Ten firefighting vehicles mobilised to the headquarters, located in the eastern Cairo district of Nasr City.

An official at the ACA announced that the fire department brought the fire under conrol within ten minutes.

The official told Ahram Arabic news website that a short circuit caused the fire adding that no documents were damaged.

The ACA is the main watchdog of the Egyptian government, responsible for overseeing government corruption and performance, and the building is thought to contain critical documents related to major corruption cases.
