Hamdy Zaher: Mining Sector Exports Attained EGP19.5B in 2012

The total of the mining sector exports in 2012 amounted to EGP 19.5 billion , about 14.7% of Egypt’s total wares exports, which achieved EGP132 billion.

Mr Hamdy Zaher, Chairman of Export Council for Mining Materials and Industries, said in 2012 Al Sukari Mine exports of gold reached EGP 2.2 billion, out of the total of the mining sector exports. He referred to the coordinating meeting of the export councils led by Eng. Ali Eissa, which determined the affiliate sectors of the Export Council for Mining Materials and Industries, as well the council’s role in developing the exports of these sectors.

He added that the council is working on drawing up a complete plan to double the mining exports in the framework of the Ministry of Industry’s strategy that targets the enhancement of the industrial production’s growth rates in Egypt. Zaher confirmed that the council is cooperative with all the export councils, in a way achieves increasing the industrial and wares exports, enhancing the industrial sector to revive the national economy and attracting more investments to the sector.
