In Egypt, 6117 Firms working in Tech Sector at EGP46.9bn Capitals

Around 6117 companies are working in communications and information technology sector with capitals worth EGP 46.95 billion (around US$6.5 billion), with y-o-y growth of 0.64%.

According to a recent report issued by Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the number of mobile users decreased to 94.5 million at the end of October by 3.4 %, with a penetration rate at 110 %

The report further stated that the number of internet users hit 47 million with 26% annual growth rate and 55% penetration compared to Egypt’s population. The percentage of families accessing the internet services reached 57%.

The number of users accessing the internet through ADSL is around 3 million, marking 43.8 % while the number of mobile internet users recorded 20.5 million.

Moreover, total number of fixed-line subscriptions is 6.13 million. Fixed line penetration rate reached about 7.3 %, representing an annual decline rate of 11.6%.
