India’s NMC Healthcare plans building $1.6bn-medical city in Egypt

Indian NMC Healthcare company targets establishing comprehensive medical city in Egypt with investments estimated at around US$1.6 billion, Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil stated Friday.

The city is set to encompass hospitals, medicine faculty, medical tourism, and nursing centres built according to latest global technologies, the minister said.

He added that a delegation from the company is scheduled to visit Egypt within the coming few weeks to discuss the project with Egypt’s ministry of health.

The minster made these remarks during the meetings he held with heads of largest Indian firms on the sidelines of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to India.

Qabil noted that the direct communication between Egyptian and Indian businessmen is the most effective factor in enhancing the system of joint economic cooperation between two states.

He raised the vital and effective role of Egyptian and Indian business societies in deepening strategic relations between two countries.

On other side, Minister Qabil added that President Sisi’s visit is an important step in strengthening Egyptian-Indian bilateral ties besides the massive efforts exerted by both governorates to enhance joint economic cooperation in all fields.
