Kenya captured 23 percent of Egypt’s exports of detergents, topping the list of importers for this sector in the first eight months of 2015.
Egyptian exports of detergents to Kenya recorded 134 million Egyptian pounds (US$16.7 million) during the first eight months of 2015.
According to the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control’s latest report, Egypt’s exports of detergents and soap retreated 7 percent to record 804.5 million pounds during the period from January until August in 2015, compared to 860.7 billion pounds in the same period in 2014.
The report also showed that Lebanon was ranked second in the list of detergents importers from Egypt, with imports valued at 105.3 million pounds, followed by Libya with imports worth 77.2 million pounds, and Saudi Arabia with imports of 58.4 million pounds.
Procter & Gamble Egypt (P&G) registered 43.6 percent of Egypt’s exports of detergents and soap, to record 312.5 million pounds by the end of August 2015.
Galaxy Chemicals has ranked second in the Egyptian detergents exporters’ list from Egypt, recording 175.4 million pounds during the first eight months of 2015, followed by Henkel Egypt with exports worth 63.1 million pounds, then International Company for Investment and Development (ICID) with exports of 45 million pounds, and Arma Soap and Detergents (ASD) with exports worth 42.5 million.
