Lafarge’s ECOCEM takes part in Egypt’s International Recycling Exhibition

Lafarge’s ECOCEM, French Lafarge affiliated, announced participation in Egypt’s international exhibition and conference on recycling technology currently being held in Cairo from April 30 until May 2.

The exhibition is considered to be the first in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa that targets the biggest firms in solid waste recycling and alternative energy.

Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Khaled Fahmy will attend the conference, and Hussein Mansi, Country Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Egypt, shall deliver an opening speech in which he would present a demo for a proposed cement garbage boxes to be spread in Egypt to replace regular metal boxes.

The waste volume in Egypt is estimated now around 70 million tonnes annually, varied between 20 million solid waste tonnes, 30 million agricultural waste tonnes, and 20 million tonnes resulted from waterways purification.
