Manufacturing industries index drops 2.6% in September: Egypt’s CAPMAS

Egyptian statistics body Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released Saturday a metadata about state’s production index of manufacturing and extractive industries in September 2016.

It showed that the index of manufacturing (without crude oil and petroleum products) dropped by 2.6 percent to 122.95 in September 2016 (primary) from 126.25 in August 2016 (final).

The metadata stated that  total index for manufacture of textiles reached 111.98 during September 2016 compared to 88.07 in August 2016, making a 27.1 percent increase.

The total index of manufacture of basic metals reached 93.76 during September 2016, opposed to 61.52  during August 2016, marking a 52.4 percent rise.

According to the CAPMAS, manufacture index of food products hit 113.53 in September 2016, versus 132.80 during August2016, registering a 14.5 percent drop.

Meanwhile, manufacture index of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations declined by 9.9 percent in September 2016 to 122.90 from 136.38 in August 2016.
