MCIT re-launches Egypt tourism portal after update

Egypt’s Ministry of communications and Information Technology has developed an updated version of Egypt Tourism Portal to broaden the scoop of the website to include a new trip-booking service.

Egyptian government launched the first version of the Egypt tourism portal early in August in 14 languages, to promote tourism in Egypt.

The Egypt.travel Beta portal offers information on various touristic and historic destinations, making use of links to other websites, while providing details of hotels across the country. In the first phase, over 200 destinations will be highlighted on the site.

The website was designed in cooperation with specialised companies in e-marketing using one of the latest technology solutions (Responsive Design)applies mostly on all electronic devices (PCes, smartphones, tablets) worldwide.

The new portal also publicises the latest news, promotions and all events of interest to tourists in line with social media pages and e-initiative #ThisisEgypt.

This comes as part of the government’s urgent plan to restore tourism in Egypt and attracting more than 10 million tourists by 2017.

Tourism in Egypt has sharply declined after a plane crash above the northern Sinai following its departure from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport.
