Ministry of Justice Denies Referring Tantawi, Anan To IGA

Egypt’s Minister of Justice, Ahmed Mekky, asserted that what have been said about referring Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi and Lieutenant Genera Sami Anan to the Illicit Gains Authority (IGA) is not true.

The reports have mentioned that the ministry of justice ordered Judge Tharwat Hamad to investigate the complaints filed against the former chairman of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) and his assistant Lieutenant General Sami Anan. The complaints accuse them of killing the protestors in four protests. They are Maspero, Mohamed Mahmoud incidents, the cabinet, and Al Abbaseya.

President Mohamed Morsi retired Tantawi and Anan in August, after honoring them.
