Mubarak Arrives at Court After 4 Hours Bad Weather Delay

Egypt’s ousted president Hosni Mubarak arrived at court for Saturday’s session of his retrial in the case of murder of protesters during the 2011 uprising that ended his 31-year rule.

The retrial of Mubarak was delayed for a few hours due to bad weather that prevented a helicopter transporting him to a Cairo court house from taking off, state news agency MENA reported.

The trial of Mubarak’s successor — ousted president Mohamed Morsi — was postponed Wednesday after fog prevented him from being flown from his Alexandria jail to a Cairo court house.

Mubarak faces charges of responsibility for the murder of peaceful protesters during the January 25 Revolution. Morsi is accused of inciting the murder of opposition protesters in clashes outside the Presidential Palace in December 2012.

Mubarak is currently held under house arrest at a Maadi military hospital after he was granted release by an appeals court in August having exceeded the maximum two-year remand period.
