National Bank of Egypt is Best Bank in 2014 – Poll

The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is the best and most popular bank in Egypt for 2014, a new opinion poll has found.

The Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera)’s poll commissioned by the leading economic magazine Amwal Al Ghad found that NBE enjoys a 26 percent approval rating among voters – the highest among other banks in the country. Baseera has polled out 550 voters of 18 years and older.

The result is backed by its wide geographical distribution to cover the country’s governorates through a network of branches and offices exceeding 338.

Coming second in the list, Banque Misr enjoys 19 percent approval rating among voters backed by its network of branches that reached 500 across the country. Banque Du Caire ranked third with 9 percent approval rating in the light of its major role in financing micro-sized projects in Egypt. In addition, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and Alex Bank – a member of Italian Intesa Sanpaolo Group – both placed fourth, with 4 percent approval rating.

Meanwhile, 32% of the Egyptians polled said they do not know.
