Naguib Sawiris Is Egypt’s Most Popular Businessman In 2014, Says Poll

Tycoon Naguib Sawiris is the most popular business figure in Egypt, a new opinion poll has found.

The Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera)’s poll commissioned by the leading economic magazine Amwal Al Ghad found that Sawiris enjoys a 11percent approval rating among voters – the highest of any other businessmen in the country.

Baseera has polled out 550 voters of 18 years and older. The most-popular rank is triggered by Sawiris’ plans to continue pumping new investments to support the Egyptian economy following the removal of Muslim Brotherhood-led rule.

This comes in addition to his landmark model of success represented in his company Orascom Telecom Media & Technology (OTMT), which has plans to boost investments in Egypt alongside to compete for the 4G license in a number of European and African markets.

Coming second in the list, Mohamed Abou El Enein enjoys 4 percent approval rating among voters triggered by his role in supporting the investment climate in Egypt by encouraging foreign investors, notably coming from the EU countries, to boost their investments in the local market.

On the other hand, 79% of the Egyptians polled said they cannot define the best businessmen in Egypt for 2014, citing unclear vision.
