No losses at NSGB after robbery attempt

National Societe Generale Bank of Egypt said that there are no human or material losses at the bank’s branch in 10th of Ramadan City from the armed attack yesterday.

Mohamed El-Deeb, head of NSGB, told Amwal Alghad that the security forces thwarted the attempted attack on the bank’s branch in 10th of Ramadan City.

He added that the bank filed a report and the prosecution is currently investigating the case.

The money detected with the criminals, which is less than EGP 5000, is not owned by the bank as the criminals failed to break into the bank, El-Deeb assured.

El-Shrakia’s police forces in 10th of Ramadan City thwarted the attempted attack on the bank’s branch and detained the 5 attackers, who had an automatic rifle, two pistols, 40 bullets and EGP 5000. The criminal group was led by a private security officer at the bank.

Banks in Egypt witnessed a number of armed attacks in the last days, such as the attack on Banque Misr’s money truck which resulted in stealing EGP 3.250 million and the robbery attack on HSBC that resulted in stealing EGP 1.4 million.

The Commercial International Bank’s Suez branch witnessed also an attack but it was thwarted by the civil security officers. In addition, 6 masked people attempted attacking Credit Agricole Bank branch in Sharm El-Sheikh and they were detained afterwards.
