Orange to train 200,000 Egyptians, allocate €25m to AI startups

Orange Group will provide training grants for about 200,000 people in Egypt in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, including internationally recognised professional certifications, the Egyptian presidency said on Sunday.

The French telecom company will also allocate €25 million to support startups working in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

The announcements came during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s meeting with Orange Group CEO Christel Heydemann, where they discussed cooperation in communications and information technology.

Sisi called for closer cooperation between the government and Orange to prepare Egyptian youth for future jobs through specialised training in artificial intelligence, data analysis, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

Orange will also support several Egyptian universities by equipping them with modern technology laboratories, helping students gain practical experience and develop skills in advanced digital technologies, the presidency said.
