Saudi Arabia, Italy explore investments in key sectors

Saudi Arabia and Italy are discussing joint investments in several sectors, including automotive, mining, oil & gas, defence, hydrogen, and space, as the Italian Minister of Industry, Adolfo Urso stated on Monday.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is visiting the Arabian peninsula until Tuesday, with meetings scheduled in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as he sought to strengthen ties with the Gulf since taking office in October 2022.

“Italy and Saudi Arabia are committed to developing a regulatory and industrial framework that favors and accelerates strategic autonomy in the critical raw materials sector.”, Urso stated after a meeting in Riyadh with Khalid Al Saalem, president of the Royal Commission for Jubail & Yanbu.

“We explored the possibility of partnerships and joint investments especially in the mining sector, both in our respective countries and in third areas, such as the African continent.”, he further added.

The minister said that companies such as Pirelli, Maire Tecnimont and Prysmian were represented by their top officials at the meeting.
