SFD Allocates EGP 9.2 Mln For Improving Drinking Water

The Social Fund for Development (SFD) has signed three contracts to offer EGP 9.2 million finance to improve drinking water in Giza, Fayoum and Sharkia.

The signing event was attended by Ghada Wali, secretary general of SFD; Ali Abdel Rahman; governor of Giza; Ahmed Ali Ahmed, governor of Fayoum; and Hassan El-Sayed El-Naggar, governor of Sharkia.

SFD will finance seven sub-projects in Giza by delivering drinking water to needy areas through pipes along 30 kilometers to benefit people in nine villages. The total value of finances offered to improving drinking water in Giza reached EGP 2.3 million; of which EGP 2 million was provided by SFD through debt swap agreement with Germany and EGP 30,000 was provided by local contributions.

SFD also plans to finance 41 sub-projects in Fayoum to supply 21 villages with drinking water through pipes along 39.165 kilometers. The sub-projects will be financed by EGP 3.450 million; of which EGP 3 million was provided by Japan and EGP 400,000 was provided by local contributions.

The Fund will finance 20 sub-projects in Sharkia to supply the needy areas. The sub-projects will be financed by EGP 3.450 million; of which EGP 3 million was provided by Japan and EGP 400,000 was provided by local contributions.

The project will create 44,000 daily jobs and 66 permanent jobs.
