Siemens, GE eye building wind turbine factories in Suez Canal region

Egyptian General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone- SCZone is in talks with conglomerate corporations Siemens and General Electric over establishing wind turbines factories in the economic zone.

Chairman of the SCZone, Ahmed Darwish stated Sunday that Siemens targets maintaining its turbines used in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

He added that there is a number of international companies that keen on investing in the economic zone of Suez Canal.

The official made these remarks during a conference held by Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) on challenges and investment opportunities in Suez Canal axe region in cooperation with Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI).

SCZone allocated two areas whose total spaces are estimated at 400 feddans for small-and medium-sized projects, Darwish noted.

Moreover, the authority is in talks with four Singaporean, French, and Dutch firms over establishing a smart infrastructure in East Port Said, the Chairman pointed out.
