Sisi orders government to ease burden of economic crisis on citizens

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered the government on Sunday to exert maximum effort to ease the burden of the economic crisis on citizens.

The government was also ordered to absorb inflationary pressures, implement structural reforms, and maximise the role of the private sector.

The aforementioned measure could be implemented by eliminating bureaucratic obstacles and achieving the principle of competitive neutrality.

This will help create an attractive atmosphere for local and foreign investments, as well as enhance the development achievements in various sectors.

These measures will also support the national economy and raise the income levels of citizens, according to the statement.

The statement were made during the president’s meeting on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdallah, and General Intelligence Service Chief Abbas Kamel.

Also in the meeting were Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, and Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Mohamed Amin.

During the meeting, al-Sisi reviewed various economic indicators and developments in the local economy.
