Standard Chartered Hosts Financial Institutions Trade Finance Seminar

Standard Chartered ‘s Transaction Banking team organized a first-of-a-kind Trade Finance Seminar for financial institution clients of the bank in Dubai. The workshop was attended by representatives of conventional and select Islamic banks from the UAE and the region.

At the seminar, Nicolas Langlois, Head of Liability and Risk Weighted Assets Optimization at Standard Chartered discussed the impact of Basel III on Transactional Services. Sriram Muthukrishnan, Global Head of Trade Product Management for financial institutions at Standard Chartered discussed the emerging Trade Finance opportunities for Financial Institutions in light of changing regulatory environment and the shift of economic power from west to east. Another session discussed the rise and the increasing demand for Islamic Trade Finance.

Commenting on the importance of the Seminar, Farooq Siddiqi, Regional Head of Transaction Banking, MENAP, Standard Chartered Bank said:
