UN General Assembly to vote on Gaza ceasefire

The United Nations General Assembly is set to vote on a Gaza ceasefire on Tuesday, demanding a stop to the vicious onslaught targeting Palestinians.

In the General Assembly, no country in the 193-members has a veto power.

The vote will be on a draft resolution proposed by Egypt with the same language of that which was blocked by the United States in the 15-member Security Council on Friday.

General Assembly resolutions are not binding, however, they carry political weight and reflect global views on the attacks.

So far, Israel killed more than 18,000 innocent civilians and wounded more than 49,000.
