United States has seized 54 % of Egypt’s exports of ready-made clothes through the Qualifying Industrial Zones agreement (QIZ) recording EGP 3.7 billion (US$472.2 million) at the end of August 2015.
According to the report issued Monday by the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), Egypt’s exports of ready-made clothes have increased by 1% to reach 6.9 billion pounds at the end of August 2015 versus 6.8 billion pounds at the same period of 2014.
On other hand, Egypt’s ready-made clothes exports to the EU states recorded 2 billion pounds in January-August 2015, while the exports to Arab countries registered 316 million pounds.
The report further clarified that Egyptian exports of ready-made cloths to the other countries have recorded 744 million pounds.
Following USA, Turkey has imported Egyptian ready-made clothes estimated at 610 million pounds during the first eight months of 2015.
Moreover, the report added that Egypt’s exports of ready-made clothes to UK hit 603 million pounds while its exports to Spain are worth 446 million pounds.
