WFP suspends aid to some areas of Sudan

The World Food Programme (WFP) declared on Wednesday a temporary halt to food aid in certain regions of Sudan’s Gezira State due to escalating conflicts in the south and east of Khartoum.

According to WFP’s statement, the clashes that erupted last week caused about 300,000 people to leave the island within days.

Eddie Roy, the representative and director of the WFP in Sudan, clarified that the agency has put a hold on food aid delivery in certain parts of the island where battles are taking place.

Roy highlighted that their teams are tirelessly working to deliver aid in regions where it’s still feasible to do so.
