Workers at Amazon Spain plan 3-day strike over wages

Workers at Amazon (AMZN.O) in northern Spain are planning a three-day strike over their wages, Reuters reported on Monday.

The strike comes right before for the Epiphany feast day on January six, during which children receive holiday gifts, labor union LAB said.

The strike is set to take place on Jan. three, four and five to demand higher wages, said LAB leader Gotzon Mardarats, representing most of the workers.

In a response to Reuters, Amazon said the workers at its Trapagaran centre “have competitive wages and benefits.”

This strike is coming after another one that began on Saturday at midnight and will continue through Monday.

In the current strike, around 90 percent of the centre’s workers striked, delaying the delivery of around 20,000 parcels, LAB added.
