Telecom Egypt to create platform for Social Solidarity Ministry project products

Telecom Egypt will create an online platform to market the products of the social solidarity ministry’s productive families project, according to a cooperation protocol signed on Friday.

The project trains families in different handicrafts to help them generate income.

Telecom Egypt, the country’s landline monopoly holder, is primarily owned by the ICT ministry.

The protocol was signed in the presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, and Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali.

According to the protocol, Telecom Egypt will also train around 1,000 people with disabilities, to prepare them for the labour market.

The company will also train and increase the efficiency of around 1,000 employees of civil society organisations.

Wali said that the new digital platform will be a manifestation of the Egyptian state’s digitisation strategy.

The cooperation with the company is in line with the ministry’s three-pronged strategy, which focuses on social security, social welfare and social development, she said.

The cooperation protocol also reflects the ministry’s attention towards the issues of people with disabilities and its efforts to provide job opportunities for them, she added.

Talaat said that the protocol is part of Telecom Egypt’s social responsibility activities.

He said the company has a strategic partnership with the social solidarity ministry through which they implement many community initiatives.
