Four Egyptian construction vying for $250 mln Central African project

Four Egyptian construction companies are competing to win mandates for an infrastructure project in an African country, with investments exceeding $250 million, said a senior source said on Sunday.

The companies are Hassan Allam Sons, Concord Engineering and Contracting Company, Samcrete, and Redcon Construction, the source further told Amwal Al Ghad.

They are planning to commence official operations in the continent within next year as part of the Egyptian government’s strategy to boost construction exports.

Financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the project involves wide infrastructure works in Central Africa.

Construction companies in Egypt are planning to enter the African market within the next year. They are studying the possibility of taking part in 8 giant projects in the areas of roads, housing, hotels, and infrastructure. The road projects, which are funded by international institutions, are top priority for those companies, he added.
