CAPMAS: Egypt’s exports to the U.S. grow 56% in 2021
Egypt’s exports to the United States increased 56.3 percent in 2021 to $2.5 billion, compared to $1.6 billion in 2020, according to the Egyptian Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Wednesday.
The growth representing 5.8 percent of Egypt’s exports to the world.
The exports of ready-made garments ranked the first-place of the exports to U.S. reaching $1.2 billion in 2021, compared to $0.8 billion in 2020, marking an increase of 50 percent.
U.S. exports to Egypt jumped 27.1 percent to $6.1 billion in 2021, representing 7.4 percent of Egypt’s imports from the world, compared to $4.8 billion in 2020, CAPMAS stated in a bulletin.
Imports of grains, oil fruits and medicinal plants came first with 26.8 percent of the total imports from the U.S. reaching $1.6 billion in 2021, compared to $1.5 million in 2020 with an increase of 6.7 percent.
