Google opens second cloud region in Italy
Alphabet Inc.’s Google said in a statement on Thursday that it will open its second cloud region in Italy, as a method to emphasise the company’s efforts to be a global hub for cloud computing.
The first cloud region in Italy is located in Milan, while the second will open in Turin, the northern Italian city, according to the statement.
The executive director for information system of Intesa Sanpaolo, Enrico Bagnasco, said “a cloud hyperscaler like Google with two regions on the national territory will facilitate all Italian companies and the Public Administration in accessing the cloud,”
Google said that the Cloud regions in Italy could create a new market with a value of around 1.90 billion euros in only three year period through 2025.
