Taylor Swift to gain $500 mln from Eras Tour
Since American singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, announced the U.S. leg of her tour, the Eras Tour, last November, she has broken multiple records, with opening night on March 18 being the most attended female concert in US history.
As soon as tickets to the Eras Tour went on sale, demand for it was so strong that Ticketmaster’s systems crashed, as well as breaking the ticket sales company’s record of the most sold tickets in a single day.
With the 52 date tour being an immediate success, it is expected to gross $620 million, according to the average ticket price of $215, with $11.4 million ticket sales per show, or 52,863 goers, Billboard estimated.
A net of about $496 will be going to Swift, as she will be receiving between 100 percent and 110 percent of the tour’s ticket sales, excluding taxes, crew payments and tour expenses. Some experts estimated Swift’s earnings to go up to $1.5 billion if the average ticket price is $700.
Swift could have additional earnings from merchandise sold at the venues, which is estimated to generate $87 million in revenues.
The estimates of the Eras Tour earnings show that the tour could become the top grossing tour ever, making Swift a billionaire by the end of 2023.
The Eras Tour comes after the Grammy-winner released her 10th studio album, Midnights, which has sold over six million copies in the first eight weeks.
The album also broke Spotify’s record for the most streamed album in a single day and made Swift the first artist to occupy the entire top 10 of the Billboard hot 100 chart.
