Egypt’s CBE replaces 6mln pension cards with Meeza cards
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has replaced about six million pension cards with the national payment cards, Meeza, in order to integrate pensioners in the banking sector and enable them to obtain its services, according to its statement on Friday.
The statement also revealed that 25 banks had issued 30 million cards bearing the logo of Meeza until September 2022. It also showed the registration of more than 829,000 customers on the national system for instant payments, InstaPay.
In the same context, the Central Bank revealed the launch of an initiative to deploy 6,500 ATMs in governorates that suffer from a shortage of machines, with the participation of 26 banks, until the end of September 2022.
