Egypt welcomed a record-breaking number of tourists in the first quarter of this year, reaching more than 45 percent from the same period last year, according to CEO of Abu Dhabi Tourist Investment Company, Yehia Kotb, said on Wednesday.
The country has taken notable steps to improve the sector, including the significant participation of the tourism sector in all international tourist exhibitions to display tourism activities and attract more tourists, Kotb told Amwal Al Ghad Arabic.
Kotb pointed out that state authorities are working in partnership with the private sector to increase and double capacity during the next season to receive more tourists, especially as the official opening of the New Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
